Jio Glass was showcased in Reliance Industries Annual General Meeting 2020, on 15th July, 2020.

The RIL AGM had discussed on various topics like 5G technology in India, Jio TV+ and other. But the one which grabbed the attention was the Jio Glass.

Jio Glass work on the concept of Mixed Reality (MR) based holographic lens system that enables users to perform tasks such as host conference calls, share and view presentations and also showcase 3D objects

Jio Glass comes with personalized audio system and supports all audio standards.

Design of Jio Glass:

Jio Glass is made up of plastic frame that has a camera placed between the two lenses. The legs of the plastic frame or the Jio Glass contains the speakers and batteries. The weight of the plastic frame is the  only 75 grams.

Functionality :

One can make a holographic video calls in both 2D and 3D avatars. You get the HD quality video with already 25 apps supported.

This Jio Glass Mixed Reality Technology can be used to conduct virtual tours of museums and historical monuments that might be of relevance to a subject. Jio Glass is designed for teachers and students to enable 3D virtual Rooms and conduct holographic classes via the Jio Mixed Reality.

During the demo, Kiran Thomas, President RIL said, “Hello Jio, please call Aakash and Isha.” After which the Jio Glass made a call to Aakash and Isha Ambani. Aakash was shown as a 3D avatar, whereas, Isha joined in using a 2D video call interface. During the call, it was shown how Jio Glass will make performing meetings easy and interactive.
