You might have seen small dotted structure on your screens which emits colors. They are known as Pixels. Pixels are the tiniest element on the screen. Screen resolution depends on the screen size and the resolution you want and that changes the pixel count of your screen.

Before few years, the screens where such that you would literally see the pixels by your naked eyes. But as the technology has advanced now the screens does not posses such huge pixels. Even on your small smartphones screens you do not get to see the pixels by your naked eyes.

Because it has become too tiny and the amount of pixels on screens has increased by a huge number. The number may go up to some millions of pixels on the screens.

Basically, what screen resolution means? In simple words, the resolution means the arrangement of pixels horizontally and vertically on your screen.

It is quoted by “width x height“.

Example, you might have seen or heard “1024 x 768” resolution or other. What does that mean? This means that there are 1024 pixels horizontally and 768 pixels vertically on your screen.

There are various screen resolutions in the smartphones and televisions. Some of them are 720p, 1080p, 2K, 4K, and 8K. Let us discuss each and every individually.

720p – The pixels in 720p are 1280 X 720. That is 1280 pixels are arranged horizontally and 720 pixels vertically. It is commonly termed as HD resolution (High Definition resolution).

1080p – The resolution for 1080p is 1920 X 1080. This resolution is commonly termed as full HD resoltuion (Full High Definition resolution).

2K – The resolution for 2K is 2048 X 1080. The name 2K comes from the pixel count is nearer to 2000, that is 2K. So this resolution is termed as 2K.

4K – The resolution for 4K is 4096 X 2160. Resolution term 4K comes in same way as the 2K. The come term for 4K is Ultra High Definition.

8K – The resolution for 8K is 7680 X 4320. Still you won’t find this resolution as commonly as the others but definitely in near future you do will find it.
